ABOUT RIO TINTO

Rio Tinto Diamonds is one of the world's leading diamond producers and operates a globally integrated mine to market diamond business.

With mines in Australia (Argyle) and Canada (Diavik) as well as an advanced diamond project in India, the company has been an important participant in the international jewellery market for over three decades. Rio Tinto's diamond sales and marketing activities , headquartered in Antwerp, Belgium, span across the US, Canada, Europe, China, India and Australia.

ABOUT ARGYLE

Rio Tinto owns and operates the Argyle Diamond Mine in the remote East Kimberley region of Western Australia. It is the world's largest supplier of natural colored diamonds, from exotic champagne diamonds and mysterious greys to brilliant whites and the remarkably rare pink diamonds.

Argyle has produced over 800 million carats since it commenced its operations 30 years ago. Beyond 2015, we calculate that the underground mine will produce some 20 million carats of rough diamonds per year.

ABOUT DIAVIK

The Diavik Diamond Mine is located in Canada’s Northwest Territories, one of the most remote places in the world, 220 kilometres south of the Arctic Circle and on the bed of a vast northern lake, Lac de Gras.

Since production began in 2003, Diavik has produced approximately 90 million carats of high quality diamonds. Diavik produces predominantly white gem quality diamonds prized for their distinctiveness and value.
